PFPE lubricants operate under extreme temperatures, extreme pressure and exposure to harsh chemicals. This unique chemistry enables them to outperform traditional mineral lubricants.<\/p>\n<p>It is common practice to use mineral-based or silicone lubricants on a daily, weekly or monthly basis; with Krytox, this need is greatly reduced, freeing up staff for other activities and minimizing downtime caused by the need to replace worn components.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Krytox PFPE lubricants generate savings<\/b><b> <\/b><\/h2>\n<p>One copper rod manufacturer lubricated its roller bearings every four hours at operating temperatures above 200\u00b0C with a mineral grease. However, by switching to Krytox fluorinated lubricants, it reduced relubrication to a monthly interval, cutting annual bearing failures by nearly 98 percent. By switching to Krytox lubricants, this manufacturer has reduced maintenance costs, parts costs, and production downtime.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Krytox PFPE lubricants extend the service life of components<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>A textile manufacturer uses a heat-drying oven as part of the process. In the drying oven, the wet fabric passes along many support rollers inside a large metal box, moving through several heated zones with temperatures reaching 220\u00b0C. This manufacturer was replacing six bearings per month due to premature bearing failures. Frequent downtime negatively affected productivity. Worse, the quality of the fabric has been compromised. The manufacturer needed a lubricant that would maintain its integrity at high temperatures in high-humidity environments.
