Electric vehicles depend on AC\/DC inverters to power the motor and other components. These batteries provide 500 volts of power and a maximum current of 500 amperes, so reliable inverter operation is critical to protect the life of the battery and the vehicle engine.<\/p>\n

The challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Power cables with O-ring seals produced using various elastomers, including EPDM and silicone rubber, are used to connect the inverter and battery. O-rings are critical to prevent moisture from entering the inverter chamber. With operating temperatures reaching 120\u00b0C, high temperature performance and rubber-compatible lubrication are needed to protect O-rings from damage.<\/p>\n

MOLYKOTE\u00ae HP-300 grease can protect the O-rings of an electrical connection even in harsh environments without changing the physical and mechanical properties of the seal. Offering excellent material compatibility and thermal stability, the grease is suitable for use with various elastomers such as EPDM and silicone rubbers.<\/p>\n

The MOLYKOTE\u00ae technical team subjected MOLYKOTE\u00ae HP-300 grease to several tests to observe how the lubricant performed under pressure.<\/p>\n
