Railway carriage floor refurbishment through bonding and sealing
In the refurbishment of a railway carriage floor, linoleum bonding and perimeter sealing require adhesives and sealants compatible with different substrates and industry requirements.
Floor sealants in railway carriages
Maintenance, bonding and sealing
During the repair of a railway carriage, the floor had to be refurbished by intervening on two distinct points: the bonding of the linoleum to the plywood wood panel and the sealing of the perimeter.
The point was not to choose a single material for the entire application, but to identify two solutions suitable for different functions. For bonding, KORAPUR® 672/80-TH350, a two-component polyurethane system, was selected. For perimeter sealing, Körapop™ 240, an SMP/MSP technology sealant, was chosen instead.
Bonding of
linoleum
Polyurethane technology supports adhesion between the linoleum covering and the plywood panel.
Perimeter
sealing
SMP/MSP technology allows for elastic sealing of the perimeter, with good adhesion on different substrates.

EN 45545-2
EN 45545-2 documentation reports the compliance of the tested materials with fire behavior requirements, a relevant aspect for interior applications on railway vehicles.
