Technology for Elastomeric Adhesives
Silicone sealant adhesives
Learn the key function of one-component and two-component silicone sealant adhesives.
Introduction
One-component and two-component silicone sealant adhesives elastically absorb mechanical shocks due to dynamic stresses and compensate for thermal expansion between dissimilar substrates. They also manage to create resilient and tenacious joints under extreme temperature conditions.
Silicone sealant, or silicone paste, adapts to the needs of production processes. The curing mechanism can be RTV (room temperature curing) or, for faster processes, heat-activated.
Main properties of silicone sealants
- High elasticity at low temperatures down to – 50° C
- Excellent resistance to high temperature with peaks up to 350° C
- Elongation up to 700%
- UV and all-weather resistance.
- Moisture and water resistance
- Low toxicity
- Excellent dielectric properties
- Ease of use.
