Technology for industrial lubricants
Synthetic ester-based lubricants
Synthetic ester lubricants are a category of synthetic lubricants that use esters as an oil base. Esters are organic compounds formed by the reaction between an organic acid and an alcoholic base. Synthetic ester-based lubricants are characterized by excellent thermal stability, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, and good compatibility with elastomers. They also have a higher flash point than some other categories of synthetic lubricants.
Introduction
In addition, synthetic esters are used in lubricants for high- and low-temperature applications and respond favorably to performance-enhancing additives such as antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, anti-wear agents, and load-carrying additives. The solvency level, low toxicity and excellent biodegradability of ester molecules provide unique properties for finished lubricants in a range of viscosities.
Where are they used?
- These lubricants are used in a wide range of industrial applications, including compressors, turbines, chains, and bearings. In addition, they are particularly suitable for applications where extreme temperatures, chemical resistance and water repellency are essential, such as in aerospace, industrial, automotive and maritime environments. In general, synthetic ester-based lubricants are an effective solution to lubrication challenges in high-temperature environments and can improve the life and performance of the equipment used.
