The Molykote range includes several products, here are some of them
Pastes
- The pastes consist of a high concentration of solid lubricants in oil to facilitate application. In cases where oils and greases are moved away from the contact points to be lubricated, the solid lubricants in the pastes instead form an adherent and tenacious film that prevents wear under extreme loads and low speeds. The main types are screw pastes, assembly pastes, and greasy pastes, and the applications are during assembly and break-in.
Greases
- It doesn’t matter what your industry is: food, chemical, mechanical or other. We have the right products and services to improve your production. A lubricating grease is a semi-solid product composed of a dispersion of a thickening agent in a fluid lubricant. Lubricating grease works by releasing lubricating fluid from the condenser and provides lubrication where the use of an oil is not practical or possible. Molykote® high-performance lubricating greases are designed and engineered for use in extreme conditions such as high pressures, aggressive chemical environments, very high or low temperatures and at all possible speeds. In addition, Molykote® greases have mineral oils or synthetic fluids at their base, including silicone oils. A good number of Molykote® greases contain special additives and/or solid lubricants such as molybdenum disulfide to provide very effective lubrication.
Compounds
- Silicone compounds are grease-like lubricants containing silicone fluids, thickened with inert amorphous silica. They are resistant to oxidation and thermal degradation and maintain their properties over a wide temperature range. They are designed as release agents and can be used as assembly lubricants for O-rings, electrical current insulators, sealants that do not harden, and to lubricate rubber and plastic parts. Silicone compounds can be used in applications where they have the dual function of sealing and lubricating.
Coatings
- Molykote® AFC (Anti-Friction Coating) coatings are similar to paints. Instead of a colored pigment, they contain micronized particles of solid lubricants dispersed in carefully selected mixtures of resins and solvents. Important for lubrication and corrosion protection properties is the choice of raw materials and the volume concentration of solid lubricants contained. In addition to greases and oils, or where possible as a replacement for Hydrodynamic lubricants, Molykote® AFC coatings form a lubricating film that helps cover surface roughness and protect against friction of one surface against the other (e.g., metal-to-metal, plastic-to-plastic) even under extreme loading conditions. They are applied by conventional painting systems such as: spraying, brushing, dipping and centrifuging.
Solvents
- Molykote® solvents can be used to degrease and remove residues such as oils and greases, as well as to change the viscosity of AFC Coatings. These products are also designed to clean equipment used for applying coatings.
Dispersions
- Molykote® dispersions are finely dispersed solid lubricants or other lubricants suspended in lubricating fluids. They are used when it is necessary to apply solid lubricants in liquid form to units in operation or in hard-to-access places. Some dispersions serve as anti-wear and extreme pressure additives for gear and engine oils.
Other products
- The Molykote® family of lubricants is completed with a range of sprays, and fluids for special applications. These products are designed to cover a wide temperature range, for corrosion protection; good adhesion strength and load resistance.
