DOWSIL™ EA-3838
INCREASES PRODUCTIVITY IN A SUSTAINABLE WAY
DOWSIL™ EA-3838 is DOW’s new two-component RTV silicone adhesive sealant with a neutral alkoxyl curing mechanism.

It is easy to apply (with manual and automated dispensing), is available in dual-cartridge kits, drums and drums, and has a volumetric mixing ratio ranging from 2: 1 to 4: 1 if a longer open time is needed.
DOW‘s new DOWSIL ™ EA-3838 rapid adhesive provides tenacious and fast adhesion without primer on many substrates, increasing productivity. Rapid curing is achieved at room temperature without the need for ovens, so production throughput can be increased by reducing energy consumption.

And this is precisely the special feature of DOWSIL ™ EA-3838 being able to increase productivity without forgetting environmental sustainability.
This adhesive is the perfect solution for the appliance industry and industries such as automotive electronics, lighting and aerospace, including all applications where reliable, strong and flexible bonds are required.
The adhesive achieves shear strength from about 0.5 MPa in 10 minutes, developing up to 1.0 MPa with 100% cohesive failure on substrates such as glass and stainless steel after 30 minutes, as shown in Figure 1. The final tensile and shear strength of the adhesive is more than 1.5 MPa and 1.4 MPa, respectively, depending on the substrate
Even after exposure to 180°C, the adhesive remains extremly reliable achieving a shear strength of over 1.2 Mpa making it a perfect solution for metal-to-glass bonding in furnaces.
Properties
- Two-component RTV adhesive, thixotropic.
- Good adhesion and durable on various substrates.
- Excellent weathering and UV resistance.
- Resistance to temperature-50°C+180°C, heat and humidity.
- It does not require primer.
- Fast curing (5min is all it takes) at room temperature, allowing for quick handling and rapid assembly process, this is favorably reflected in agile productivity while greatly reducing energy consumption.
Applications
