Introduction
Instant adhesives, also known as cyanoacrylates, are acrylate-based adhesives that cure rapidly in the presence of traces of moisture. These adhesives are commonly used to bond materials such as plastic, rubber, metal, wood, and other nonporous materials.
Until now, the performance and applications of instant adhesives have been limited by the limitations of existing cyanoacrylate technologies. Through a unique process, Arkema has unlocked the potential of these technologies and developed a range of instant adhesives that offer the high-performance, user-friendly properties demanded by designers and engineers.
The one-component (1K) product range includes Ultra and Ultra Gel, while the two-component (2K) product range includes Flex, Repair and Structural. The range of products with dual curing system (Dual Cure) includes Light Lock. In addition, Born2Bond™ offers Booster and Primer for surface preparation.
These innovative products were developed to address the challenges of assembling increasingly small and complex objects and the demand for high-quality finishes, simplifying faster and smarter manufacturing processes and ensuring user safety and sustainability.
Born2Bond™ Ultra
Instant adhesives with low odor and low bloom
Born2Bond™ Ultra adhesives are low-odor, low effervescence instant adhesives with a range of viscosities, specially designed for bonding most substrates, including plastics, rubber and metals. The consistency of the formulation is designed to ensure high adhesion strength, even in places subject to bending. The careful selection of ingredients in the formulation ensures that the product does not leave white spots (blooming).
Born2Bond™ Ultra Gel
Instant adhesive gel with low odor and low bloom
Born2Bond™ Ultra Gel adhesive is a low odor, low effervescence instant adhesive specially designed for bonding most substrates, including plastics, rubber and metals. The consistency of the formulation is designed to ensure high adhesion strength, even in places subject to bending. The consistency of the gel allows application in any orientation. The careful selection of ingredients in the formulation ensures that the product does not leave white spots (blooming).
Born2Bond™ Light Lock
Dual-cure cyanoacrylate (light and surface)
Born2Bond™ Light Lock MV, HV and Gel adhesives are patented† low-odor, low effervescence, dual-cure (contact and light) cyanoacrylate adhesives. They are designed for bonding applications that require rapid bonding, coating or surface curing. Cure sensitivity to UV and visible light enables rapid bonding of transparent parts and rapid curing of light-exposed or surface-coated areas. In addition, the product’s instant bonding ability ensures curing between opaque substrates (contact curing).
Born2Bond™ Flex
Instant, two-component, flexible and elastic adhesive
Born2Bond™ Flex adhesives are patent-pending, flexible, elastic and low-odor instant adhesives with exceptional adhesion to a very wide range of materials and surfaces. It becomes a polymer (hardens) with an elongation of more than 200 percent with a processing time (in mixer) of up to six minutes. It can be used for filling high volume cracks, achieving immediate adhesion to most plastics, woods and metals, as well as porous and uneven surfaces.
Born2Bond™ Repair
Two-part instant adhesive, impact-resistant
Born2Bond™ Repair adhesives are a patented† instant adhesive, filler, and repair product with excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials and surfaces. Repair adhesives are ideal for instant bonding and repair because they combine the strength of a structural adhesive with the speed of an instant adhesive. A tough polymer is obtained in a curing time of less than 10 minutes, and the gel consistency allows application in any orientation.
Born2Bond™ Structural
High-strength two-component instant adhesive
Born2Bond™ Structural Adhesives is a patent-pending, high-strength hybrid adhesive that provides fast bonding time at room temperature while maintaining good workability and adhesion spaces up to 5 mm. This product offers excellent adhesion characteristics to a wide variety of closed substrates, such as aluminum, steel, plastics and elastomers, as well as porous substrates, such as wood, chipboard and leather. Born2Bond™ structural adhesives are formulated for applications that require mechanical and environmental resistance during use.
