BetaPrime™ 5026: an innovative glass primer

Mascherpa, thanks to its active collaboration with its main represented companies, has set as one of the main objectives of its Quality and Environmental Policy to promote technological solutions with a lower environmental impact, with particular attention to respecting the safety of operators, that were at the same time easy to manage.

With this in mind, BetaPrime™ 5026 from DOW Automotive stands as a state-of-the-art glass primer in that it is isocyanate-free, and therefore has a reduced environmental impact, and “long life,” remaining active, once applied to the glass, for 3 months, compared to 72h for conventional glass primers.

In addition to this, in contrast to conventional glass primers, it can also be used on Polycarbonate substrates with Anti-scratch Treatment.

BetaPrime™ 5026 has been successfully employed by major OEMs for years.

Dow Laboratories has been extensively testing different batches since 2017, so that users can make more functional use of the primer, and better stock management.

The positive outcome of the tests led to theextension of the Shelf Life from 3 to 6 months, and the reduction of the Minimum Open Time from 4h to 15min, maintaining the possibility of use up to 3 months after application.

Thus BetaPrime™ 5026 can be used in the same cycles as conventional glass primers.

It should be emphasized that no changes have been made to the formulation, nor to the production site.

New sales specifications (increased shelf life and reduced minimum open time) will be implemented in the coming months.

At the same time, the packaging was changed, bringing it in line with those in use in Europe, changing from the US format (946ml) to the EU format (1,000ml).
