Anti Friction Coating: how to use it to prevent friction
In the world of mechanical engineering and industrial maintenance, every contact between surfaces can become a critical point: wear, friction, noise, and efficiency losses are daily issues for those designing or maintaining plants, components, and moving systems.
Anti Friction Coatings (AFC) are dry coatings and lubricants designed to reduce friction under critical conditions where the use of greases or oils is insufficient. They work with an ultra-thin solid layer capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, adhering to complex surfaces, and operating dry, maintaining consistent performance even in challenging environments.
Reduced friction
and wear
AFCs, also known as dry lubricants,
decrease the coefficient of friction between surfaces,
preventing premature wear and extending the service life
of components even in the absence of traditional lubricants.
Resistance to extreme temperatures
Thanks to solid lubricants like PTFE, MoS₂, or graphite,
the coatings work effectively from -200°C to over 600°C,
maintaining stability and protection even under thermal stress.
Operational cleanliness and safety
The dry films do not attract dust or residues,
avoiding build-ups that can compromise reliability
in critical environments such as automotive, aerospace, fluid dynamics, and valves.
Versatile and controlled application
AFCs are applied via spray, immersion, or screen printing,
easily adapting to fasteners, springs, hinges, and complex surfaces,
with reduced thicknesses (from 7 to 35 μm) without altering the geometry of the part.
