The new DOWSIL™ CC-8030 UV conformal coating.
The new DOWSIL ™ CC-8030 UV conformal coating is the first solvent-free silicone conformal coating with a dual cure system: ultraviolet (UV) and moisture.
This conformal coating is a fast-curing and energy-efficient product because it reduces processing costs due to UV curing.
It also features great environmental sustainability as it is formulated without solvents such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene or xylene (BTEX).

DOWSIL™ CC-8030 has a low modulus to avoid stressing delicate components and a high elongation for reliable protection. To provide an even higher level of PCB protection, conformal coating can be applied in multiple layers. Compared with leading UV-cured acrylate urethane coatings, Dow’s new silicone-based technology offers superior protection against thermal cycling DOWSIL CC-8030 dual-cure conformal coating is a medium-viscosity soft silicone and has a rheology designed for coating by spray application devices.
This dual-cure technology combines speed and coverage capability. With UV curing of a standard broad-spectrum mercury lamp with an intensity of 300 mW/cm2, the DOWSIL coating is tack-free after less than 10 sec. Compared with thermal ovens, UV ovens are smaller and consume less energy. In addition, secondary curing through moisture reaches any shaded area where UV light cannot penetrate or UV curing is incomplete. Curing by moisture, also allows for a thicker coating without adding stress due to thermal cycling.
