The performance of Betamate
BETAMATE single- or two-component structural epoxy adhesives provide high adhesion to steel, ‘aluminum and other materials allowing better load-bearing capabilities, design flexibility and weight reduction.
These epoxy adhesives supplant welds and mechanical fasteners to help reduce weight and production costs. They are ideal for use in closures (doors, trunks, and hatches), as well as in chassis structure and applications (underbody and roof).
The benefits of Betamate structural adhesives from Dow Automotive Systems:
- Increases the rigidity of the body
- Reduces costs by decreasing welds
- Reduces vehicle weight, thereby reducing CO2 emissions
- Improves assembly processes
- Adheres to oily substrates
- They are resistant to washing
- Joins dissimilar and difficult-to-weld substrates, including high-strength steel, aluminum, and composite materials
- Increases frame life by reducing fatigue and sagging usually found around spot welds and fasteners
- Improved performance against impact without any increase in weight
- Contributes to design flexibility and overall vehicle safety
Applications
To meet the trend toward lighter and lighter vehicles, BETAMATE structural adhesives are commonly used for their ability to bond similar and dissimilar substrates; this makes BETAMATE the ideal structural adhesive for engine compartments, doors, hoods, lid flanges, driver cabs, roof panels, and in many other applications.
