The fluid sealant
DOWSIL™ 7094
has been specially formulated to provide a protective, durable and decorative solution in the construction and solar photovoltaic (PV) panel industry. This sealant is characterized by high durability, highsafety and remarkable flexibility, which are key requirements in such applications. Due to its high temperature and UV stability, it can be used both internally and externally.


DOWSIL™ 7094
is applicable by brush, trowel, or spray, providing excellent repair of PV modules with backsheet degradation and backsheet protection applied at the production stage. The backsheet, located at the base of the solar photovoltaic panel, forms the final layer and is generally made of polymers or combinations of polymers.

Specific properties for photovoltaic applications

The fluid sealant
DOWSIL™ 7094
was specially developed for use in solar modules for two main purposes:

  • Repair of backsheets with signs of cracking.
  • Prevention on modules with backsheets prone to common cracking.

It can be easily applied in the workshop or on site, even on modules already installed with the backsheet facing down. In this regard, the following steps are recommended:

  1. Thoroughly clean the surface of the backsheet. The cleaning procedure will depend on the type of dirt and the degree of degradation of the backsheet. In general, it is recommended to clean the surface with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth.
  2. Apply DOWSIL™ 7094 fluid sealant using a trowel, brush or spray gun.
  3. Immediately level the applied layer with a trowel, applying light pressure to penetrate the sealant into the cracks.
  4. Allow the sealant to harden.
