Recommendations for Molykote valve and joint lubricants.

Our Molykote range of industrial lubricants offers dedicated solutions for the lubrication of valves and their various components, ideal for industries such as the gas, hydrocarbon, petrochemical and refinery industries.

Molykote 111 Compound

Molykote 111 Compound for Valves is a silicone-based compound with tremendous lubricating and sealing power that ensures sealing under very unfavorable environmental, temperature and pressure conditions. It does not harden and is highly resistant to water washdowns.
It is an excellent Molykote product for all types of joints and seals of a plastic or elastomeric nature and offers great sealing power, supporting vacuum conditions.

Molykote G-5511

The product Molykote G-5511 is a silicone-based, Teflonated (PTFE) compound with very similar characteristics to Molykote 111 Valve Lubricant Compound, with the special feature that it has recently acquired DVGW certification to ensure its functionality in direct contact with gas.
Also suitable for joints and valves subjected to direct contact with water: WRAS, DVGW, NSF H1 certifications…

Valve and joint lubricants: for dry lubrication of metal components

Molykote D-321R

Molykote D-321R is an AFC (anti-friction coating), a dry film lubricating varnish. It is like a paint and, as such, is a product that has a curing time of about 15 minutes at room temperature so that its solvent phase and solid lubricant film remain on the substrate. The curing time is a characteristic of dry-film antifriction coatings (AFC). The molybdenum disulfide content, MoS2, is about 29% of its composition. It enables completely clean and dry lubrication. Molykote D-321 R can be used on the stems to achieve a lower coefficient of friction than the norm, but if the use of a fuller-bodied valve lubricant is required, Molykote G-N Plus can be used. If the same thing is desired, but with a white (cleaner) and water-resistant lubricant, Molykote DX. If the actuator materials are not only metal but also combinations of metal and plastic, Molykote PG-21 can be applied to prevent stick-slip.

Molykote 3400A LF

Molykote 3400A LF, on the other hand, is an AFC (totally dry lubrication) that is highly resistant to direct contact with gases or hydrocarbons of various kinds. It has a very low coefficient of friction and excellent adhesion and corrosion protection. It cures when hot (30 minutes at 200ºC).

Guide to the Correct Application of AFCs

For proper application of AFCs such as Molykote D-321 R in spray format is important:

  • the application on clean metal surfaces so that the product remains in good condition on the substrate.
  • Shake the container well before application in order to completely homogenize the product, with the aim of having it maintain the same properties from start to finish. (*)
  • Project at a constant speed from an equal distance of about 15-20 cm at all times.

(*) Shaking to homogenize the product well is necessary, especially when the product is unused for significant periods of time. This is because the lubricant solids it contains are denser than the oil and gradually precipitate toward the well of the container, producing unwanted phase separation within.

Molykote Metal Cleaner

Molykote metal cleaner is a product for cleaning metal surfaces. This product combines several rapidly evaporating organic solvents that do not corrode and leave no residue. It is also easy to apply by spray. Once the surface is completely clean and conditioned, subsequent application of an anti-friction coating (AFC) such as MOLYKOTE D-321 R will have excellent anchorage and provide more effective protection.
