During Hydrogen Expo, Mascherpa presented its innovative proposal of advanced pressure tanks as a solution on safety in hydrogen storage.
The high-quality composite materials with which they are constructed ensure strength and safety in pressure tanks, so as to reduce risks and improve efficiency.

Wet Filament Winding (WFW) Process Optimization.

Mascherpa’s proposed solutions also aim to solve critical issues related to the Wet Filament Winding (WFW) process, such as the formation of micro air bubbles between filaments, which can compromise both the safety and aesthetics of the part.
By using Diatex’s peel plies and shrink films, optimal compaction of the laminate can be achieved, eliminating microporosity.

High quality shrink films and peel plies

Shrink films, such as Filament 160, provide a glossy surface, while Diatex 1500 and 2000 shrink peel plies make the part ready for painting or gluing.
In addition, Mascherpa also offers CTMI-impregnated towpregs for pre-preg filament winding, further optimizing the production process.

Filament 160: quality and precision

Filament 160 from DIATEX is a shrinkable film used in the Wet Filament Winding (WFW) lamination process to improve the quality and firmness of composites.
This film is applied to the layup and, once it reaches a certain temperature, contracts, eliminating air bubbles and microporosity, ensuring a glossy, smooth and uniform final surface.
Filament 160 is ideal for applications requiring aesthetic and functional precision, as it reduces tow tension-related defects and improves the surface performance of the part.
This makes it an optimal solution in the composites industry, where the quality of the end result is essential for aerospace, automotive and industrial applications.

Diatex 1500 and 2000: heat shrinkable peel plies for structural bonding

Diatex 1500 and Diatex 2000 are heat-shrinkable peel plies developed to roughen laminate surfaces to prepare them for secondary applications such as bonding or painting.
They are to be used in contact with the laminate to compact it once the latter is subjected to temperature.
Unlike Filament 160, Diatex 1500 and Diatex 2000 in addition to compaction also allow excess resin to be removed, as they are porous.
They can be used with epoxy and phenolic resins, but not with polyester resins.
These peel plies are treated to avoid contamination and ensure optimal cohesion between composite layers.

Why Mascherpa recommends DIATEX

For these many characteristics, Mascherpa offers and recommends DIATEX’s peel plies or shrink films, which compact artifacts so as to eliminate surface bubbles when a certain temperature is reached.
In addition, shrink films leave a glossy appearance, while peel plies can prepare the surface for painting and bonding operations, proving to be essential and very useful during work and finalization.
